Newfoundland High-Density RDIMM
Newfoundland is the most cost-effective 4GB DDR2 RDIMM design available in the industry. This is accomplished by utilizing the unique features of the ArctiCore module technology. For Newfoundland, 72 commodity 512Mb DRAM components are placed on the flexible circuit, which is then folded around a thermal core to form the DIMM. This results in a 4GB, 4-rank RDIMM designed for demanding server, workstation and networking applications.
Newfoundland RDIMMs are manufactured using standard manufacturing processes with only one additional, automated step for folding of the flexible circuit around the thermal core.
Entorian has been working with JEDEC on standardizing the Newfoundland RDIMM design, with JEDEC standardization expected to be complete in the Fall of 2006.
